When I think of embarking on a path towards healing and wholeness, I think of how incredibly daunting and profound of an experience that can be.
Thank you for considering me as a healing companion in your journey.
As a Black woman, I believe that our collective healing is revolutionary which requires us to be intentional about the spaces (both physical + emotional) that we occupy and access mind, body and spiritual connection. I am Aaliyah Nurideen, a licensed clinical social worker in New Jersey and Maryland.
At Ashé Mental Health and Wellness Space, our time together is focused on empowering you with energy and the tools to feel more in control of your life and identify the paths of healing that work for you.
Ashé starts with asking the question “What is your intention for yourself in this space?” and we will work together to move your intention from questions, thoughts and ideas to behaviors and practice. I invite you to slow down, ground yourself in the present and most importantly allow yourself grace and patience.
I charge myself with: creating space for you to be human in ALL of your emotional experiences (because we know life be lifing!), holding your virtual hand when we process the hard topics (about you, others and the world), being curious about the behaviors that are keeping you from reaching the fulfillment that you desire, clocking your strengths, joys and skills when it’s hard for you to recognize them and partnering with you to develop strategies when life requires you to pivot-all in order for you to live your version of a peaceful and connected life.
My Philosophy
I have a strange relationship with the words “expert” or “healer”. Yes, the therapeutic process is healing in it’s most successful implementation and professional education/experience is most definitely required for me to sit in this virtual seat across from you, but YOU are the expert in your life.
The beautiful thing about human beings and human behavior is that every single one of us is unique in our individual experiences-despite similarities such as age, gender, race, or sexual identity or orientation.
My approach to psychotherapy is explorative and collaborative; you know yourself best so you supply the map, and we navigate the path to healing together. For that reason, I consider myself a healing companion.
My job is to help you: reduce distress and pain caused by unpleasant emotions and distressing symptoms, increase curiosity and self awareness into your behavior, develop psychological fortitude and adapt to life circumstances all in order to live a happy healthy and fulfilled life.
In some cases, complete symptom reduction may not be the goal. The goal may simply be to manage symptomatology and adapt around the uncontrollable.
